History
The Man
O. George Kennedy, PhD was a pioneer in the field of healthcare information technology.
Upon receiving an MBA, an MSE, and a PhD in Health Systems from Northwestern
University, he embarked on a career spanning over 30 years that was dedicated to advancing
the use of information technology in the healthcare industry.
Infohealth is still fulfilling George's vision as reflected in its mission to: "...provide IT management excellence and innovation to the healthcare industry, in a cost effective and profitable manner which exceeds client expectations and enhances the asset value of IT within the healthcare enterprise."
The Vision
George recognized the need for the healthcare information technology community to band
together with the common goal of developing and expanding the role of information
technology in healthcare. In 1978 he founded The Kennedy Group, an organization designed
to provide strategic counsel and services to all healthcare IT related entities, including
healthcare enterprises, healthcare IT vendors and technology firms, the investment
community, and medical product/service firms.
After twenty years of growing, expanding, and serving the assorted entities there came a need for change. The healthcare enterprises, although benefiting from the strategic and educational services provided by The Kennedy Group (TKG), were asking for help with more traditional IT services such as vendor selection, system implementation, and general IT infrastructure. In 1997, George founded Infohealth Management Corp., a sister company to TKG, to supply IT expertise and vision to healthcare providers without vendor biases, while allowing TKG to maintain the integrity required to be an advocate of healthcare information technology. Infohealth was born to meet the specific needs of the providers.
